Deep Ocean Krill™
Unlike fish oil, the omega-3 fatty acids in krill oil are absorbed and carried to the body's cells in phospholipid form - enabling far greater bioavailability. Studies show that human cells will readily absorb 95-98% of phospholipids, a performance not attainable by fish oil fatty acid triglycerides.
In the world of Omega-3 ingredients, krill oil is hot. That's because krill oil is more effective in delivering the benefits of EPA and DHA than fish oil - without the drawbacks of large pill sizes and poor consumer tolerance (burp back). Deep Ocean KrillTM is a premium krill oil ingredient that starts with Aker BioMarine's Superba® Krill Oil as a base and is fortified with Valensa's Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin to boost the astaxanthin levels naturally found in krill. Deep Ocean Krill also features Valensa's proprietary botanical O2B™ Peroxidation Blocker technology to provide the most shelf-stable krill-based ingredient on the market today.
The result? High levels of bioavailable EPA and DHA plus extra astaxanthin in a small dosage form and an ingredient your customers can trust.
The best source for EPA and DHA
Deep Ocean Krill Oil contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) phospholipids which have published clinical trials showing functionality supporting human health in a broad range of areas. Studies show that human cells will readily absorb 95-98% of phospholipids, a performance not attainable by fish oil fatty acid triglycerides. From a consumer acceptance standpoint, krill oil is preferred - "burp-back" is eliminated and the potency of the krill oil ingredient will allow much a much lower "pill burden".
Making a good thing better
Astaxanthin is a red carotenoid found naturally in pink salmon, krill, algae, shrimp and lobster. As an antioxidant, it has been shown to be up to 500 times more powerful than Vitamin E, 10 times form potent as beta-carotene and 24 times more potent than lutein. It is a functional antioxidant known to cross the blood-brain and blood-retina barriers aiding in the prevention of oxidative stress of brain and eye cells while boosting immune support. Pureye/Valensa’s Zanthin® brand Astaxanthin is patented for use in eye health formulas (US Patent 5,527,533) and has many additional benefits that include positively supporting brain, central nervous system, and cardiovascular system health. Fish oil, except for wild salmon oil, contains no astaxanthin. Krill oil does naturally contain astaxanthin but some is lost when krill is processed into oil. Standard grades of Deep Ocean Krill contain 1.5 mg of algae derived astaxanthin per gram of oil and custom formulations with up to 12 mg of astaxanthin per gram of oil are available.
